1st CENTD thematic meeting

Between June 19 and 20, the CENTD partners re-joined at Ghent to both share experiences and identify gaps on the topics related to environmental contamination and drug efficacy. Based on the discussions, a series of activities were identified. For example, it was decided to send around samples spiked with known number of helminth eggs to verify the diagnostic performance of the current methods to assess environmental contamination used among the CENTD partners. In addition, it was agreed to write a paper on general principles to assess the therapeutic efficacy of anthelmintic drugs in a clinical trial context and one on the need to revise the WHO manual to monitor therapeutic drugs in large-scale deworming programs.
